Listen to "Legislative Outlook" from the program Planning Techniques for Large Estates originally presented November 16-20, 2009

Why Attend?

The purpose of the course is to examine sophisticated issues that practicing lawyers actually face. Each topic has a lecturer/discussion leader who is responsible for covering the most important aspects of the subject matter and for presenting and discussing the issues and alternative approaches. Registrants are encouraged to participate actively in the discussion of the problems. Because of the limited enrollment and the degree of expertise of the registrants, the format offers an exciting educational experience. It gives registrants an opportunity to trade and discuss ideas with their peers, under the supervision and guidance of highly skilled faculty members.

Newly added: In light of the repeal of the estate and generation-skipping transfer taxes as of January 1, 2010, all estate planners face a great deal of uncertainty. To help registrants get a handle on these implications, this year's program features a two-hour panel dedicated solely to examining these issues.

What You Will Learn

This course deals with the most sophisticated problems and considerations in planning large estates. In order to attain this objective, on-site enrollment is limited to 60 registrants.

The topics selected represent the most difficult challenges in the planning of large estates. The discussions are conducted on a transactional basis, with emphasis on changing factual patterns rather than on bare principles of law or statutory provisions. Registrants should come prepared to enter into active discussion with their peers and with the discussion leaders.
